Montverde Academy -- Shanghai was established in 2012 as an off-shoot of Montverde Academy in Florida (USA). MVA-Shanghai follows a US Advanced Placement curriculum with AP courses in US History, English Language & Composition, English Literature, Calculus AB & BC, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Human Geography, Micro- and Macroeconomics, and Art. After an extended search, the school is now located in the Pudong district of Shanghai and is the high school division of the Shanghai Future Science & Technology School (K-12). This new, state-of-the art campus includes two classroom buildings, cafeteria, double gymnasium, fitness rooms, dedicated spaces for drama/dance classes, and music practice rooms.
Enrollment in 2023-24 is 180 students in grades 9-12 with a projected enrollment of 250 for the 2024-25 academic year. The majority of the students are from the greater Shanghai area but some are from other parts of China. About 75% of the students are 5-day boarders, living in dormitories located on campus.
Responsibilities:
1, Teach science,mathematics-related or humanities and social sciences related courses.
2, Provide high-quality instruction, create a positive classroom atmosphere, and establish effective communication and interaction with students.
3, Coordinate the administration of subject tests and exams for students in accordance with the school's requirements. Maintain control over the teaching process and assume responsibility for the quality of instruction and teaching outcomes.
4, Actively participate in teaching research activities, collaborate with colleagues, and share teaching experiences and best practices.
5, Submit high-quality course outlines and lesson plans on time and as required, and update them according to the school's requirements.
6, Collaborate with the teaching team and other departments to support the school's educational goals and projects.
7, Demonstrate initiative, actively solve problems, and exhibit innovation in the teaching process.
8, Excellent time management skills, adhering to the school's specified working hours and requirements.
9, Participate in scheduled Q&A sessions, evening self-study, and daytime self-study, and supervise 1-2 extracurricular activities.
10, Maintain positive and friendly communication and cooperation with colleagues, accept classroom observation system, and willingly listen to the opinions and suggestions of the teaching team.
11, Collaborate to fulfill other school-assigned tasks and responsibilities as required.
Qualifications:
- English native speaker;
- Bachelor’s degree or above;
- Minimum 2 years of full-time related teaching experience in schools.
- Certification and/or a master's education are strongly preferred.
