Sandwichina Centre is the spatial practice of sandwich, a cultural platform founded in 2011.



At sandwich Cultural Center, we engage in the personal development of adults, adolescents and children through a variety of cultural and artistic forms. To promote projects of creative multicultural expression in the fields of content creation, global society, etc. Such as reading, writing, design, art, drama and so on.


Job Profile:

At Storyland, we use books, stories, and big questions to help children grow as readers, thinkers, and human beings. We are now hiring 8 Story Mentors to join our team in Shanghai and teach across three age groups:

1. Early Years / Kindergarten (ages 5–6) – 2 roles

2. Primary (ages 7–11) – 3 roles

3. Secondary (ages 12–15) – 3 roles



If you light up when a child connects with a story, asks a thoughtful question, or finds their voice in discussion, we would love to meet you.


Job Details:

Responsibilities:

As a Story Mentor, you will:

1. Lead small-group workshops for children aged 5–15 using picture books, chapter books, and carefully selected texts.

2. Run story-based sessions that blend reading, discussion, games, and creative projects.

3. Guide students to talk about emotions, values, and big ideas through stories.

4. Teach grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and basic literary analysis through meaningful texts, not dry drills.

5. Support children in building healthy reading habits during library coaching time.

6. Work closely with a supportive team of Chinese and foreign colleagues who share ideas, feedback, and materials.



You will not be left alone to “figure it out”. We have a growing curriculum and a team that collaborates on how to make each class more engaging and human.


Qualifications:

Must have:

1. Bachelor’s degree.

2. At least 2 years of post-graduate work experience (any field).

3. Strong spoken and written English, at native or near-native level.

4. Genuine interest in working with children and talking about books.

5. Willingness and eligibility to relocate to Shanghai, China, and meet visa requirements.



Nice to have (but not required):

1. Teaching experience (school, training centre, tutoring, or similar).

2. Experience with EYFS/kindergarten, primary, or secondary students.

3. TESOL/TEFL, teaching licence, or similar certification.

4. Background in literature, creative writing, theatre, humanities, youth work, or education.
