The "Three-year Action Plan for the Construction of Bookstores in Chengdu and the Development of Brick-and-mortar Bookstores" aims to increase this number to 4,000 by 2025. Sichuan Provincial Library

The Sichuan Provincial Library was first established in 1912 and is one of the earliest public libraries in China. It houses a collection of 4.6 million books.

The Chengdu Library was established in 1912 and was recognized as a "first-tier library" in 2009. In 2022, outside of the main library, the themed Tianfu Humanities and Arts Library was completed. Both libraries are pioneering in implementing extended hours of service nationwide.
