Jiangyin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine

Jiangyin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine (Jiangyin Affiliated Hospital of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine) was founded in 1954. It is one of the first batch of demonstration hospitals of traditional Chinese medicine in China. In 2023, it successfully became a Grade III Level A hospital of traditional Chinese Medicine and was selected as one of the first batch of pilot hospitals for high-quality development of public hospitals in Jiangsu Province. At the end of June 2024, the hospital's new site was officially put into use. It has been awarded honors such as Jiangsu Provincial Civilized Unit, Jiangsu Provincial Traditional Chinese Medicine Culture Promotion Base, Jiangsu Provincial Healthy Hospital, and Wuxi Top Ten Medical Institutions, contributing traditional Chinese medicine strength to the building of a healthy Jiangyin.

In recent years, the hospital has continuously enhanced its core competitiveness. It currently has 1,326 open beds and 1,370 in-service employees. It has established 37 clinical departments and 10 medical technology departments. In 2025, its comprehensive outpatient and emergency services reached nearly 1.43 million visits, it admitted 49,000 inpatients, and performed more than 14,700 surgeries. The hospital has always adhered to the path of prioritizing traditional Chinese medicine and integrating traditional Chinese and Western medicine. It emphasizes strengthening the construction of the traditional Chinese medicine talent team. At present, it has 3 famous traditional Chinese medicine doctors of Jiangsu Province, 2 famous traditional Chinese medicine doctors of Wuxi City, 4 "Double Hundred" talents of Wuxi City, and 22 famous traditional Chinese medicine doctors at the Jiangyin municipal level. It has 1 national key specialty of traditional Chinese medicine, 1 national construction unit for advantageous specialties of traditional Chinese medicine, 1 key discipline of traditional Chinese medicine of Jiangsu Province, 6 key specialties of traditional Chinese medicine of Jiangsu Province, and 11 key specialties of traditional Chinese medicine of Wuxi City (including construction units). Among them, key specialties such as dermatology, gynecology, pediatrics, and proctology are widely praised by the public and have strong influence in the city and surrounding areas.

The hospital continues to strengthen strategic cooperation with Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine, Jiangsu Province Hospital of Chinese Medicine, Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Chinese Medicine, and other hospitals and universities. In 2022, it was listed as the Jiangyin Branch of the Jiangsu Provincial Clinical Research Institute of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2024, it was approved as a Jiangsu Provincial Graduate Work Station, a Jiangsu Provincial Postdoctoral Innovation Practice Base, and a Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine Talent Work Station and Joint Postdoctoral Training Base. It established the Xia Guicheng Studio of National Master of Traditional Chinese Medicine, the Xuan Guowei Studio, the Xu Fusong Studio of National Famous Traditional Chinese Medicine Doctor, and the Huang Huang and Tan Yong Studios. It created the Jiangyin Work Station of the first batch of Longsha Medical Heritage Promotion Bases, the Shi Xiaoshan Clinical Research Sub-center of Shi's Traumatology, and the Chengjiang Acupuncture School Heritage Work Station.

The hospital carries out eight types of customized processing dosage forms, including decoction powder, pills, powders, and ointments. It has a total of 52 customized processed varieties of agreed prescriptions and produces 15 dosage forms and 60 hospital-specific preparations year-round. Among them, star preparations such as Fujiejing Lotion, Huangbai Lotion, Xiaofeng Mixture, Jianwei Xiaoyan Granules, and Shenling Baizhu Granules are deeply welcomed by the public.

In 2018, the Jiangyin Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine Medical Group county-level medical community was established. It currently has 24 member units. Adhering to the concepts of inheritance, innovation, collaboration, and sharing, it strives to build a "Five Together" county-level traditional Chinese medicine medical community with shared careers, synchronized development, homogeneous management, shared resources, and common cultural origins. In 2024, it led the establishment of the County-level Traditional Chinese Medicine Medical Community Special Committee of the Jiangsu Provincial Association of Traditional Chinese Medicine and became the first chairman unit. Its relevant construction experience has been reported by national media many times, playing a leading role in promoting the construction of county-level traditional Chinese medicine medical communities.

The hospital always adheres to Party building leadership and deepens the construction of the "Dandelion+" Party building brand. It adheres to the strategy of invigorating the hospital through culture, fully integrating traditional Chinese medicine cultural elements and the historical and humanistic characteristics of "Jiangyin Traditional Chinese Medicine," and creating themed cultural venues such as Cheng Dan'an Square and the Hospital History Museum. It has a total of 12 representative projects of intangible cultural heritage at the provincial and municipal levels. Among them, the Jiangyin Longsha Medical Heritage Research Institute was awarded the "Top Ten Cultural Social Organizations" of Jiangyin City, and the former residence of Cao Yingfu was approved as a typical case of Wuxi City's "Hundred Residences and Hundred Courtyards, Cultural Relics Revitalization," further polishing the shining name card of Jiangyin as the "Hometown of Traditional Chinese Medicine."
