For pet owners, traveling by air has often come with a cloud of anxiety: complicated paperwork, unclear procedures, fear of missing flights, and the nagging worry that the journey might be too stressful for their furry companions.
On April 20, Wuxi Shuofang Airport took a significant step to change that with the official launch of its “Pet Check-in Support Service Point” — a dedicated facility designed to take the stress out of traveling with pets.
Located in the column area in front of the Shenzhen Airlines check-in counters on the departure level of Terminal 2, the service point was jointly inaugurated by Wuxi Shuofang Airport and SF Express. It stands as the first airport-based, pet-dedicated service space in Jiangsu Province — a milestone that bridges the “last mile” for passengers traveling with pets.

One-Stop Support, From Questions to Boarding
“Can my small Bichon Frise be allowed in the cabin? What documents do I need to prepare in advance? How far ahead should I make a reservation?”
These are the kinds of questions the new service point is designed to answer — clearly and on the spot.
Staff are on hand to provide step-by-step guidance, including:
1. Pet travel consultations
2. Assistance with documentation and procedures
3. Coordination for special transit cases
For example, when it comes to in-cabin pet travel, staff explain that small pets fully meet the requirements, but owners need to apply at least 48 hours in advance. Two essential documents are required: a valid vaccination record (with the last shot administered at least 21 days prior) and a quarantine certificate issued no more than seven days before travel.
For more complex cases requiring special handling or transfers, staff proactively coordinate and follow through on the entire process — so pet owners don’t have to navigate the system alone.

A “Pet-Friendly” Space Designed for Comfort
Beyond paperwork and logistics, the service point also features a dedicated rest area and replenishment station — complete with soft cushions, drinking water, and pet treats. It’s a small but thoughtful space where both owners and their “furry kids” can unwind and wait for their flight in comfort.
