A new direct shipping route linking north China's Tianjin Port with Mexico officially launched on July 8, cutting transit time from about one month to around two weeks.
Its maiden voyage carried 5,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo, including auto parts and daily consumer goods produced in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. Operated by Mediterranean Shipping Company, the route provides direct access to major ports on Mexico's west coast.
On its return journey, the service will transport products such as copper and zinc ores, avocados, and berries from North America to Tianjin, further strengthening trade between China and Mexico.
