About Company:

China Media Group, formally established on April 19, 2018, is one of the largest media conglomerates in the world. It was created through the merger of China Central Television (incorporating China Global Television Network), China National Radio, and China Radio International.

Among CMG’s special productions is the annual Spring Festival Gala, a visual spectacular that in 2019 was watched by 1.1 billion people in China and overseas, of whom 527 million accessed it online.
CMG has laid out the ground-breaking strategic plan of “5G+4K/8K+AI” and assembled the first state-level 5G new media platform. It has pioneered the production and broadcasting techniques in the 8K format. It also established China’s first 4K resolution satellite channel.
CMG has entered into comprehensive cooperation agreements with more than 100 overseas media institutions, establishing varied and broad partnerships in news content sharing, programme co-production, personnel visits, and broadcasting technology exchanges.

Job Details:

Responsibilities:

To check and edit English scripts translated from the Chinese version and get them ready for voice dubbing and subtitling;
To provide editorial and research support to the script team;
To advise on all script-related matters associated with production.
Ensure that draft scripts are checked for inaccuracies and to advise Assistant Editors accordingly;
Alert Assistant Editors to any difficulties or inconsistencies in the scripts and to suggest solutions;
To provide additional research when required;
To help generate material for the website;
To train or instruct junior Chinese colleagues when necessary.


Qualifications:

Native English speaker with a valid passport;
Bachelor's Degree and above;
Minimum 3 years of work experience in the television industry;
A demonstrable interest in documentaries and creative writing;
Practical experience of script editing; Keen editorial judgement based on a thorough understanding of CGTN Documentary editorial guidelines, target audiences, and programme objectives;
The ability to interpret editorial intentions and to contribute to the generation of ideas and the resolution of script problems; Experience of handling controversial information with tact and sensitivity;
The ability to work against tight deadlines;
A broad knowledge of Chinese culture and experience as a narrator or dubbing director is preferred
