【City Characteristics】Liverpool is located in the northwest of England. It is the capital of Merseyside, one of the eight core cities in England, and a famous commercial center in Britain. Liverpool is the second largest trading port in Britain, with its export ranking first in the country and its import second after London. It is also an important passenger port with regular liners to major ports in the world. Liverpool University, Britain’s famous historical university, lies in this city. Its trade relations with China can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty, and the oldest Chinatown in Europe was built in the city.
