Suzhou rose garden adds over 100 varieties

"The garden looks so different right now! There are not only more varieties but also more Instagrammable spots." Since Shengze Lake Chinese Rose Garden finished renovation, visitors have been full of praise.

While preserving its original special landscapes, the garden has introduced over 140 varieties and added more than 10,000 roses.

"Many of our new varieties are quite unique," said Wang Junxian, manager of Shengze Lake Chinese Rose Garden. "There is 'Diana,' also known as 'Princess of Rose,' which blooms all the year round and exudes intoxicating fragrance. Another highlight is 'Shinoburedo,' a rare lavender-colored variety that's ideal for creating a dreamy atmosphere."

"This is the largest upgrade in the garden's history. To complement the new varieties, we've created three themed areas: the Mediterranean Garden, the English Garden, and the Sunken Garden," introduced Sheng Haiyan, director of the management office.

To further improve visitor experience, two new cafes have been added. "Many visitors would leave right after touring the garden. Now, with these relaxing spaces, they can slow down, sit back, and enjoy their time," Sheng said.
