Qianhai Snow World, one of the world's premier indoor ski resorts, will officially open to the public Sept. 29, it announced during its ticket launch ceremony yesterday.

A two-hour recreational “snow play” ticket starts at 208 yuan (US$29), while two-hour access to the professional ski slopes ranges from 300 to 500 yuan. A major promotional campaign promising “tens of millions in coupons” will begin Sept. 5, targeting residents of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and international visitors. The resort positions itself as a year-round, one-stop ice-and-snow destination.

On a site visit yesterday afternoon, a Shenzhen Daily reporter observed the facility in its final testing phase. The indoor snow hall will be kept at a constant −6°C (about 21°F), offering a sharp contrast to the warm, subtropical weather outside.

Qianhai Snow World undergoes final testing ahead of its official opening.

As the largest indoor snow resort at the lowest latitude globally, the complex spans 100,000 square meters. It is equipped with five professional ski trails with a total length of 1,569 meters and a maximum vertical drop of 83 meters.

Featuring two terrain parks, the venue is capable of hosting international competitions such as slopestyle and alpine events. Advanced transport systems, including a four-person chairlift and dual “magic carpets,” ensure efficient skier circulation.

Professional instruction is provided by Bonski, which offers a scientific, systematic three-tiered, 12-level ski curriculum serving everyone from beginners to experts.

Beyond the professional slopes, the project includes an approximately 4,000-square-meter snow park with 20 different snow-play activities designed for families and young people. For convenience, the resort features a ski-in/ski-out lobby through a partnership with the JW Marriott hotel. It also integrates 50,000 square meters of commercial space, creating a diverse “snow + dive + retail” experience.

An adjacent “super-sensory” park will offer surfing, climbing, cycling and other adventure options, anchored by an indoor deep-dive pool reaching a depth of 33 meters.

New entertainment offerings include high-adrenaline snow attractions such as a “Ninja Challenge” and ice motorcycle riding. The world’s first Class 3A, XR-based full-sensory ice production, “Magic Ice Castle,” will also open to the public Sept. 29.

The immersive show uses 8K rendering and more than 30 environmental effects — including motion simulation and tactile feedback — to create an interactive, fairytale snow world beyond traditional audiovisual presentations.

“We will establish a Shenzhen R&D center to advance new product development and bring more high-quality offerings to the city,” said Hu Shihui, chairman and CEO of X META, the company behind “Magic Ice Castle.” “We hope these products will appeal to young audiences and also convey Shenzhen’s unique culture and spirit.”

Ticket pricing for Qianhai Snow World is revealed during the launch event yesterday.

Organizers unveiled a multi-tiered pricing matrix to meet the needs ranging from casual snow play to professional training. To better serve the Greater Bay Area’s varied visitors, the resort is launching a membership system featuring seasonal, half-year and annual passes tailored to residents, temporary residents and dedicated athletes.

Qianhai Snow World is conveniently located in a core area of the Greater Bay Area. Visitors can reach the resort via the Yanjiang Expressway, while Shenzhen residents can take Metro Line 12 to Waterlands Resort South Station (海上田园南站) or Line 20 to Convention & Exhibition City Station (会展城站), with direct underground access to the complex.
