Founded in 1981, American International School of Guangzhou (AISG) is the first international school in South China and the only non-profit international school in Guangzhou. It was founded in Guangzhou to serve the educational needs of consular officials' families. AISG started with seven students from the US Consulate at the Oriental Hotel and has now developed into a leading international school from kindergarten to 12th grade, with over 1000 students from more than 50 nationalities in both campuses. AISG has been recognized by leading educational institutions from around the world, including the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), the International Baccalaureate Organization (IB), Chinese Ministry of Education and World-class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA)
