Hebei Normal University is a provincial key university jointly established by the People's Government of Hebei Province and the Ministry of Education. It is a first level university under the construction of the "Double First Class" in Hebei Province. The school originated in 1902 and has a history of over 120 years of development and a glorious tradition of education. The school's disciplines and majors cover ten categories, including philosophy, economics, law, education, literature, history, science, engineering, management, and art. Several disciplines have entered the ranks of first-class disciplines in China, and their overall strength ranks among the top of similar universities in the country. Hebei Normal University is based on an international perspective and cultivates the concept of cultural exchange, serving the needs of education reform and opening up in the new era, accelerating the pace of international education, and continuously improving the quality of education. The school extensively engages in international cooperation and exchanges, and has established exchanges with over 200 foreign universities in areas such as cooperative education, teacher exchange, scientific research cooperation, and international talent introduction. The internationalization level of education is increasingly improving.

      1. Confucius Institute   Tell the story of China in the new era      

In order to promote the dissemination of Chinese, deepen the understanding of Chinese language and culture among people around the world, and promote cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, the school actively carries out the construction of Confucius Institutes (classrooms). Currently, three Confucius Institutes (classrooms) have been jointly established in Peru, Indonesia, and Brazil, with a quantity and quality ranking among the top in the province. The school continues to send Chinese presidents and public Chinese teachers to overseas Confucius Institutes, and Chinese teacher volunteers to 20 countries, 90% of which serve countries along the "the Belt and Road", forming a volunteer team of Chinese teachers with "excellent professional quality and dedication". Commissioned by the Han Affairs Office of the original country, the school has meticulously created the "Tianyao China" brand program, visited countries such as Chile, Peru, Indonesia, and Germany, organized performances and cultural activities, and received a total audience of more than 10400 people. It has played a positive role in promoting the dissemination of Chinese culture, promoting mutual learning of civilizations, and enhancing the school's overseas influence.

      2. Introducing Foreign Talents to Expand International Educational Resources      

The school focuses on combining national strategy and regional economic and social development needs, and closely integrates the introduction of high-quality and high-end foreign intelligence with discipline construction, international scientific research cooperation, etc. It has successively introduced 7 foreign academicians, and 16 professors and researchers from famous universities in Sweden, Canada, Romania, the United States, Russia, and Pakistan. One foreign expert from our school has won the "Chinese Government Friendship Award", and six have won the "Yan Zhao Friendship Award" in Hebei Province. The level and number of awards are among the top in Hebei Province. In September 2020, our school was awarded the first batch of "Foreign Expert Bookstores" in Hebei Province.

      3. Cooperation and exchange to enhance the level of international education      

At present, the school has established friendly exchange relations with 92 universities and educational institutions in 25 countries such as Europe, Asia, and Latin America, and maintains active academic contacts with more than 200 well-known universities. In recent years, a total of 222 teams have been dispatched, with 366 people going abroad to exchange and give lectures, and nearly 500 cultural exchange teams have been received. In the past decade, the school has hosted (hosted) 15 large-scale international academic conferences, participated in more than 1800 experts and scholars, from 28 countries and regions including the United States, Russia, Canada, and the United Kingdom. In the past five years, the school's teachers and students have delivered over 80 speeches at important international conferences. The school actively builds a platform for Sino foreign cooperative education projects. Collaborating with the University of Stirling in the UK to offer a translation program, and with the University of Technology Sydney in Australia to offer a biotechnology program.

4. Exchange of Study Abroad and Build a New Pattern of Open Education

The school is gradually exploring a high-level and distinctive path for the selection and training of public funded overseas students. Since 2015, over 200 teachers and students have gone abroad to study through the public scholarship platform. As one of the first institutions approved by the Ministry of Education (formerly the National Education Commission) to receive international students studying in China, Hebei Normal University has been accepting international students to study on campus since the 1980s. In 1999, the school offered a bachelor's degree in teaching Chinese as a foreign language; In 2014, the school was granted a Master's degree authorization for Chinese International Education; In 2020, the field of Chinese international education was established under the authorization of doctoral degree programs in education, forming a complete system for cultivating talents in international Chinese education. In 2000, the school established the School of International Cultural Exchange, focusing on the cultivation of international students studying abroad and professionals in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. The school has systematically carried out language training, academic education, and Sino foreign cooperative education activities. The school currently has over 160 registered international students from over 30 countries across five continents. The school provides international students with a modern, friendly, open, and comfortable learning and living environment. Through a variety of extracurricular activities, it helps international students fully understand the real and three-dimensional China, laying a solid foundation for promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind.

5. Country and regional research promotes cultural exchange and mutual learning
The Country and Regional Research Center of Hebei Normal University is a physical think tank research institution, which includes the Indonesia Research Center, Russia Research Center, Peru Research Center, Pakistan Research Center, and New Zealand Research Center. In 2017, the Russian Research Center, the Indonesian Research Center, and the Peruvian Research Center were approved as national and regional research filing centers by the Ministry of Education.
