Want to travel with your furry friend but feel limited to self-driving? Now, they can join you on the high-speed train
The Beijing-Shanghai high-speed rail line has launched a new pet consignment service, freeing you from the long hours of self-driving. Departing from Hangzhou, you can now bring your pets to Beijing, Jinan, Nanjing, and Shanghai.
Departing from Hangzhoudong Railway Station, you can take high-speed trains G184 or G196 to reach Nanjingnan Station, Jinanxi Station, or Beijingnan Station. For your return trip to Hangzhou, you can take trains G183 or G195.
The process of pet consignment is simple:
Before your trip:
1. Online reservation: After purchasing your high-speed rail ticket, make a reservation via the 12306 app at least two days in advance. The reservation must match the passenger's information.
2.Pet quarantine certificate:Obtain the certificate from your local animal inspection department. The certificate must be valid for your travel date.
On the day of travel:
1. Bring your valid ID and the necessary pet documents to the railway station's service office to complete the consignment procedures.
2. Once your pet arrives at the destination, you’ll receive a text message and phone call notifying you to present valid personal identification to claim your pet.
Important notes:
1. Pets that are pregnant, under 15 weeks old, nursing, or sick cannot be consigned.
2. Each passenger can consign only one domesticated pet weighing less than 15 kg and no taller than 40 cm.
3. Aggressive dog breeds and wild cats are not permitted for transport.
You don't need to worry about being separated from your pet during the journey. Staff will transport them in specially designed high-speed rail pet carriers and provide water throughout the trip to keep them comfortable.
How to make online reservation? Just to follow the instruction below:
1. Open the 12306 App, swipe left on the main page and select “pet consignation”;
2. Enter your information of departure and destination stations, along with your preferred consignation date, and check availability;
3. If consignation is available, fill in the pet and consignor/recipient information.
