Xiamen releases colorful May Day holiday event menu

This year, Xiamen is going all out to build itself into a world-class tourist and leisure city, having already secured its place among the top 10 destinations in China for international travelers. Data also shows that Xiamen is one of the most popular destination cities for the upcoming May Day holiday.

Xiamen has prepared nearly 1,000 cultural and tourism events and activities, offering residents and visitors a fresh, diverse, and exciting holiday experience.

A total of 12 high-quality performances, including Nanyin, Gezai opera, Gaojia opera, and symphony concerts, will be staged at venues such as the Zhongshan Nanyin Pavilion and Xiamen Art Theater. Residents and tourists can make reservations to attend these performances free of charge.

The 2026 Xiamen Citizens' Cultural Gathering will be launched on Zhongshan Road on April 30. During the May Day holiday, spectacular performances will take place every day.

The first home match of the Fujian Football City League will be held in Xiamen on May 1, featuring pre-match cultural shows, a carnival market, and a "second venue" viewing zone. More than 100 "sports plus" interactive events blending performances, food, heritage, and tech will also be available.

Meanwhile, popular commercial streets will offer a variety of vibrant activities. Zhongshan Road will keep its "tech plus culture" vibe, featuring human-robot dances, light shows, immersive musicals, and arcade building concerts.

Xiamen has introduced three service packages aimed at improving the travel experience including a first-time Taiwan visitor service package, a ticket stub benefits package, and a tourist-friendly leisure package.
