A delegation of six members, led by Elisa da Silva, director-general of ASEAN Affairs Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Timor-Leste, visited Xiamen from Dec 9 to 11.
The delegation conducted on-site visits to learn about the development of the Xiamen Special Economic Zone, exchanged insights with local counterparts on civil aviation, marine fisheries, and cultural tourism, and explored pathways for advancing practical cooperation between the two sides.
Zhang Quan, director-general of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Xiamen Municipal People's Government, met with the delegation, offering a brief introduction to the latest developments in Xiamen's economic and social progress. He expressed a desire to leverage the direct flight route between Xiamen and Dili, the capital of Timor-Leste, to expand practical cooperation between the two places.
Elisa thanked Xiamen for its warm hospitality and looked forward to further promoting friendly exchanges and cooperation between Timor-Leste and Xiamen under the framework of China-ASEAN cooperation.
During their stay in Xiamen, the delegation visited Iport Group to learn about its development history, industrial layout, and plans for expanding international operations. They also visited the Xiamen Marine Economy Public Service Center, where they exchanged experiences and practices regarding the development of marine industries and integrated coastal zone management.
