Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals’ School-Wuhan (MLFNS-W)

Maple Leaf Foreign Nationals’ School-Wuhan (MLFNS-W) was founded in 2007, and offers the British Columbia (BC) curriculum from Kindergarten to Grade 9. We also offer a Pre-Kindergarten program. Our BC courses include: Language Arts; Math; Science; Social Studies; the Arts; Physical and Health Education; Career Education and Applied Design, Skills and Technologies. These subjects are taught by BC-certified teachers; students can further their education in the Maple Leaf High School.

Grade 3 and 4 enrolls students aged 8 and 9 years old. Our class size averages below twenty students per class. We have students in our school from various cultural backgrounds ranging from North America (Canada, the US and Jamaica) to Europe (the UK and Italy) to Africa (South Africa, and Tunisia) to Asia (South Korea, Pakistan, Taiwan, Thailand, and Indonesia).     In this diverse cultural learning environment, students learn from each other and make progress every day.

In order to foster our students’ good reading habits, MLFNS-W has given extra attention to the library. The library has a large collection of English books for various ages. The atmosphere of the library is very welcoming.

For Kindergarten and Grade 1, we enroll students aged 5 – 6. We have created a warm, welcoming and diverse learning environment for these young children. Our interactive Smart-TV and class tablets meet the technological needs of our young learners to engage in the digital world. The sand table and various classroom stations are an ideal place for students to engage in hands-on learning opportunities. Throughout the classroom, one can see the English learning supports to help develop the children’s English language skills.
