The inaugural flight of the helicopter route from Shanghai Airport Kunshan City Terminal to Fuxing Island Airport in the Yangpu District, Shanghai was successfully completed recently, signaling the official operation of the Kunshan-Yangpu helicopter route.

The journey takes only 20 minutes, providing a direct flight between Kunshan and downtown Shanghai. This marks the first intercity low-altitude commuter route to Shanghai's central area.

The successful completion of the maiden flight marks a breakthrough for Kunshan in building an efficient low-altitude transportation network featuring "20-minute direct access to downtown Shanghai and 1-hour trip to major cities in the Yangtze River Delta."

The Kunshan-Yangpu helicopter route has established a comprehensive travel model that integrates commuting, sightseeing, and transfer. Upon arriving at the Fuxing Island base, passengers can choose to continue flying to Pudong International Airport, transfer to the Lujiazui sightseeing route, or pick other low-altitude routes such as those to Nanhu District of Jiaxing City, Haining City, or Yuecheng District of Shaoxing City in Zhejiang Province, enjoying fast transitions between tourism and commuting.

Unlike other low-altitude routes, a key highlight of this new route is its support for "night flights." Passengers can depart from Kunshan in the evening and enjoy breathtaking aerial views of the night scenes of Shanghai and Kunshan, experiencing the charm of "nighttime sightseeing in the Yangtze River Delta region."

In recent years, Suzhou has actively seized development opportunities in the low-altitude economy sector. As of now, the city has established a comprehensive low-altitude industry chain, spanning R&D, manufacturing, and application, and covering complete helicopters, batteries, body materials, cameras, and sensors. It has attracted over 30 complete helicopter manufacturers and more than 350 supporting enterprises.
