The 82nd IATA (International Air Transport Association) Annual General Meeting & World Air Transport Summit took place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on June 7th local time. IATA announced that the 83rd IATA Annual General Meeting in 2027 will take place in Xiamen, Southeast China's Fujian Province, and will be hosted by Xiamen Airlines. This will mark the third time the prestigious event has been held in China, following gatherings in Shanghai in 2002 and Beijing in 2012, after a 15-year interval.
The meeting is the most prestigious, authoritative, and influential event in the global aviation industry. Each year, it attracts over 1,000 aviation executives, government officials, industry leaders, and scholars from nearly 100 countries and regions worldwide. It serves as a core platform for the global civil aviation community to discuss development, build consensus, and deepen cooperation.
Willie Walsh, director general of IATA, said that China's civil aviation passenger market has long been among the largest in the world. Hosting the meeting in China once again will allow global aviation professionals to experience the vibrant growth of the Chinese aviation market firsthand and witness the achievements of China's civil aviation industry.

Xiamen Airlines currently operates over 200 aircraft and serves more than 500 routes worldwide, with steady improvement in comprehensive operational strength.
