Centralized tax refund spots for overseas tourists have been set up at five high-end shopping malls in Wuhan, Hubei province, the city's taxation authority said on Nov. 17, 2025.
The service, first of its kind in the city, enables overseas tourists to get their tax refund in as fast as five minutes at the selected malls - Wushang Mall, DreamMall, Wushang City Outlets, Heartland 66 and Wuhan SKP — even if they made purchases at multiple tax-refund stores across the city.
So far, 111 downtown stores in Wuhan have been designated as tax-refund stores for overseas tourists. The five centralized refund spots can handle tax refund applications from all of these stores.
China rolled out its departure tax refund policy in Hubei from July 1 this year. The policy allows overseas tourists to claim back value-added tax on eligible purchases made at designated tax refund stores before leaving China. (en.hubei.gov.cn by Ruan Xinqi)
