Xiamen Ranked Among Top 10 “Amazing China-The Most Attractive Chinese Cities in the Eyes of Foreign Talents”Again

On September 28, at the opening ceremony of the Hangzhou International Talent Exchange and Project Cooperation Conference, the Foreign Talent Research Center, Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security released the results of the 2024“Amazing China-The Most Attractive Chinese Cities in the Eyes of Foreign Talents” initiative – the 2024 Chinese City Attractiveness Index for Foreign Talent. Xiamen was once again ranked among the top ten in the "“Amazing China-TheMost Attractive Chinese Cities in the Eyes of Foreign Talents”" list for 2024.
The 2024 "Amazing China-The Most Attractive Chinese Cities in the Eyes of Foreign Talents" initiative selected 64 Chinese cities (excluding Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan) with relatively high concentrations of foreign talent and conducted a questionnaire survey targeting foreign experts working and living in China. A total of 5,487 valid questionnaires from foreign talent were received. The initiative quantitatively analyzed the evaluations of foreign talent across three dimensions: job satisfaction, living convenience, and environmental friendliness, forming the Chinese City Attractiveness Index for Foreign Talent. This index reflects the comprehensive attractiveness of Chinese cities to foreign talent.
The top twenty cities in the 2024 Chinese City Attractiveness Index for Foreign Talent are: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, Chengdu, Suzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Qingdao, Xiamen, Dalian, Ningbo, Kunming, Haikou, Wuhan, Tianjin, Changsha, Jinan, Zhuhai, and Changzhou.
According to the 2024 index, foreign talent are most concerned about urban economic development and living convenience, and they expressed the highest satisfaction with the social environment. Satisfaction rates with digital life, transportation, and housing are around ninety percent. Satisfaction with medical services has steadily increased for three consecutive years. Over seventy percent are relatively satisfied with the conditions for their children's education. Ninety percent are relatively satisfied with social governance and safety. Eighty percent indicated that cities have a relatively high level of cultural inclusivity. Over eighty percent believe that Chinese cities provide them with relatively good labor resources and conditional guarantees.
Currently, Xiamen City has established a multi-level, wide-coverage, and strong talent policy system, with the intensity of measures ranking among the top of similar cities in China, and it remains consistently open and applicable to foreign talent.
