Zhangjiakou

The Historic Site of Jin-Cha-Ji(Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei)Military Command Headquarters is located in the campus of Zhangjiakou No. 6 High School (No. 62 Xuanhua Road, Qiaodong District), a provincial model high school with a long history and rich cultural heritage. It witnessed the glorious history of Zhangjiakou during its first liberation and served as the workplace and battleground for Marshal Nie Rongzhen and other proletarian revolutionaries of the older generation. Now it is designated as a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit (March 5, 2013), a Patriotic Education Base of Hebei Province, and a National Research and Practice Education Base for Primary and Secondary School Students.

Constructed in the early 20th century and laid out in a triangular (pin-shaped)configuration, this cluster of buildings covers an area of 6,000 square meters, blending traditional ethnic and European architectural styles. From Aug. 1945 to Oct. 1946, it served as the headquarters of Jin-Cha-Ji (Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei) Military Command during the first liberation.
Today, the main building has been partially restored, displaying revolutionary relics and relevant historical materials reflecting the heroic struggles of the military and civilians in Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei region. Exhibitions also highlight Zhangjiakou’s development in the new era and Xunxue Activities, the revolutionary -traditions-and-patriotic-education-themed activities, carried out by teachers and students of No. 6 High School. These exhibits recreate the revolutionary practices of Marshal Nie Rongzhen and other senior revolutionaries in establishing Jin-Cha-Ji(Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei) Border Region, a model anti-Japanese base behind enemy lines, as well as their monumental contributions to the Chinese revolution during their time in Zhangjiakou. They celebrate the indomitable spirit and perseverance of the military and civilians under the leadership of the Communist Party of China in their fight for national independence and people's liberation.
The Xunxue Activities exhibition embodies the patriotic commitment of the  Shanxi-Chahar-Hebei successors to follow in the footsteps of their forebears and learn from their revolutionary spirit. Wandering and reflecting here, visitors receive the gifts of history—reminders of the golden years and the trials of time. Feeling the passion of the era, visitors are inspired to carry on advancing with the times. “Where do we come from, and where are we going?” Let us contemplate deeply and gain profound insights in this sacred space...
