Finals and Award Ceremony of Shijiazhuang Overseas Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition Successfully Held in Shijiazhuang!

On September 12th, the finals and award ceremony of the Shijiazhuang Overseas Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition came to a successful conclusion. Guided by the Hebei Provincial Department of Science and Technology (Provincial Foreign Experts Bureau) and Shijiazhuang Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology (Municipal Foreign Experts Bureau), the event was hosted by the Science and Technology Bureau of Shijiazhuang High-Tech Industrial Development Zone and undertaken by the Hebei (Shijiazhuang) Offshore Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas Talents. Leaders including Ke Xu, Second-Class Researcher of Shijiazhuang Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, and Cao Fengmei, Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Shijiazhuang High-Tech Zone, attended the competition. Also present were over 50 participants from relevant industrial experts and scholars, investment and financing institutions, universities and research institutes, and enterprises.  

The 30 projects advancing to the finals of this competition showcased their projects through the format of "8-minute roadshow + 7-minute defense". The expert panel raised questions on each project’s product technology, core highlights, market prospects, and business models, and scored the projects based on their performance. After fierce competition, 6 winning projects were selected. "AI-based Endoscopic Image Analysis and Expert-Aided Diagnosis System" won the first prize; "Intelligent Repair Technology and Industrialization of Underwater Concrete Structures via 3D Printing" and "R&D and Industrialization of New Environmentally Friendly Paper-Based Composites in the Zero-Carbon Era" won the second prize; "Pulmonary Disease Early Warning", "Zero-Carbon Smart Agricultural Industrial System", and "Molecular Anti-Aging and Regenerative Medicine Technology Platform" won the third prize.  

Ke Xu, Second-Class Researcher of Shijiazhuang Municipal Bureau of Science and Technology, attended the event and delivered a speech. He stated that the competition has gathered many high-quality overseas projects and participating teams, covering three major fields of biomedicine, equipment manufacturing, and new-generation information technology, fully demonstrating the unique advantages and strong development potential of overseas projects. It is expected that more overseas projects will take root in Shijiazhuang in the future, helping high-quality overseas innovative projects accelerate their implementation and transformation.  

Cao Fengmei, Director of the Science and Technology Bureau of Shijiazhuang High-Tech Zone, noted that as the main engine of Shijiazhuang’s high-quality development and a pacesetter in technological innovation, the High-Tech Zone hopes to use the competition as a connector to achieve precise alignment between overseas innovative wisdom and its own industrial foundation, and take the competition as an incubator to help more potential projects grow faster.  

At the award ceremony, Mr. Alberto, a political economist specially appointed by the State Council and an international affairs commentator of Xinhua News Agency, delivered a speech. He highly praised the competition’s important role in gathering high-quality overseas innovative resources and building a platform for Sino-foreign talent exchange and cooperation. Combining global trends in innovative development with China’s talent strategy layout, he analyzed in simple terms the opportunities and potential for overseas talents to innovate and start businesses, encouraging more overseas talents to seize opportunities, rely on Shijiazhuang’s favorable development environment and platform advantages, and realize their innovative dreams and value enhancement.  
The Shijiazhuang Overseas Talents Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition is not only a concentrated review and recognition of high-quality overseas innovative projects and talents, but also builds an important bridge for Shijiazhuang in overseas talent exchange and cooperation, as well as the transformation of innovative achievements. The wisdom and project resources gathered in this competition will become new driving forces for promoting the upgrading of Shijiazhuang’s key industries such as biomedicine, equipment manufacturing, and new-generation information technology, and also inject strong confidence into the city in attracting more overseas talents to settle and develop.  
Going forward, the Hebei (Shijiazhuang) Offshore Innovation and Entrepreneurship Base for Overseas Talents will continue to optimize the ecosystem for overseas talents’ innovation and entrepreneurship, deepen precise alignment and in-depth cooperation with global overseas innovative resources, and take more comprehensive service guarantees as a starting point to fully build a broad development stage for overseas talents and projects.
