As one of the oldest characters in the world, Chinese characters have been used for the longest time so far. The evolution of Chinese characters hascarried the historical changes of Chinese civilizationfor thousands of years, and contains profound cultural heritage.Due to the lack of experience in memorizing Chinese characters, for most people, Chinese characters look like square and complex pictures. And they don’t know where to start when studying these characters. In the course The Interesting Chinese Characters(Basic), 80 Chinese characters were selected from the character list of Chinese Proficiency Grading Standards for International Chinese Language Education(Level 1-3), and 20 videos were produced. Each video episode introduces four related Chinese characters. Based on the characters of ancient Chinese characters such as oracle bone inscriptions, we analyze the original meaning of each character and reveals the cultural connotation behind them in each episode, so as to help learners write and use Chinese characters correctly. This course is in English, taught in English, with English subtitles.
