Job Title: Middle School STEAM Teacher

Department: Middle School / STEAM / Innovation & Design

Reports To: Middle School Principal / Head of STEAM

Starting Date: August 2026 (or as negotiated)


Job Details:

Responsibilities:

1. Curriculum Design & Instruction

Plan and teach engaging STEAM lessons that integrate at least two or more STEAM disciplines per unit (e.g., coding + art, robotics + math, engineering + science).

Use project-based learning (PBL) and design thinking frameworks to solve real-world problems.

Align curriculum with international standards (e.g., ISTE, NGSS, IB MYP Design, or Common Core).


Integrate digital literacy, 3D printing, coding, robotics, electronics, and basic fabrication tools.







2. Classroom Management & Student Support

Foster a safe, inclusive, and iterative learning environment where failure is part of the process.

Differentiate instruction for diverse learners, including EAL students and students with learning needs.


Assess student progress through portfolios, presentations, prototypes, and reflective journals.








3. Collaboration & Interdisciplinary Work


Co-plan with subject teachers (science, math, art, humanities) to create meaningful cross-curricular connections.

Participate in grade-level teams and STEAM vertical alignment with elementary and high school.







4. STEAM Culture & Events


Lead or support after-school STEAM clubs, maker faires, robotics competitions (e.g., First Lego League), and innovation showcases.

Organize guest speakers, field trips, or STEAM career days.







5. Professional Growth & School Community


Engage in ongoing professional development in emerging technologies and pedagogies.

Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress and STEAM highlights.

Contribute to the school’s strategic goals around innovation, sustainability, and 21st-century learning.


Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM field, Design, or a related discipline.

Teaching certification (e.g., PGCE, QTS, US state license, or equivalent).

Minimum 2–3 years of middle school teaching experience (STEAM, Design Technology, or Integrated Science preferred).

Proficiency in at least two of the following:

– Coding (Scratch, Python, micro:bit, Arduino)

– 3D modeling (Tinkercad, Fusion 360)

– Robotics (LEGO SPIKE, VEX, or similar)

– Digital arts (Photoshop, Stop-motion, Video editing)

– Physical computing & electronics
