Post-doc position in Kai Lei Lab, School of Life Sciences

Hangzhou Zhejiang, China

About Company:

Westlake University is a non-profit, research-oriented university founded by leading scientists and supported by both public and private funding. Located in Hangzhou, one of China’s most vibrant innovation hubs, the University is committed to advancing fundamental and frontier research, fostering interdisciplinary integration, and cultivating future leaders in science and technology.

With two campuses now in full operation, Westlake University offers a dynamic research environment supported by state-of-the-art facilities and strong institutional backing for research initiatives. An internationally aligned tenure-track and tenured faculty system provides clear and predictable career pathways, empowering scholars to pursue ambitious research and achieve professional growth.

Comprising the School of Science, the School of Engineering, the School of Life Sciences, and the School of Medicine, the institution fosters an open, diverse, and globally oriented academic ecosystem dedicated to original inquiry and long-term scholarly impact.

The laboratory is dedicated to addressing three fundamental scientific questions: first, elucidating the mechanisms that initiate tissue and organ regeneration; second, exploring the means by which human tissue and organ regeneration can be achieved; and finally, developing therapeutic strategies for neuromuscular degenerative diseases. The laboratory has accumulated extensive knowledge of the diverse modes and key targets that govern tissue and organ regeneration, and has published a number of important findings in this area, including the regulation of tissue regeneration by mitochondrial dynamics, the cell-lineage-specific mechanisms of tissue regeneration regulated by ribosomal modifications, and the pioneering establishment of patient-derived neuromuscular organoids from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) patients. In addition, the laboratory has developed a whole-organism three-dimensional imaging method at subcellular resolution. To advance our ongoing research, we are seeking several postdoctoral fellows to join us in our work on the fundamental principles of regeneration and their translational applications.
