Contre-Nature is French choreographer Rachid Ouramdane's newest work, and features 10 performer-acrobats from Compagnie de Chaillot blending aerial movement with contemporary dance on a bare stage illuminated by mist, light, and nature imagery.
Dancers fall weightlessly, hover in suspension, and lift one another through delicate, shifting sequences that trace life from childhood to old age.
Critically acclaimed for its hypnotic group energy and magical, moving beauty, Ouramdane explores how we carry those who are no longer with us—"ghosts that live with us."
Part of the 25th China Shanghai International Arts Festival, the show supported by Dance Reflections by Van Cleef & Arpels.
