IRAN


Shiraz is the sixth largest city in Iran and the largest one in southern Iran. As the capital of Fars province, it is one of the most ancient cities in Iran. With a population of about 1.7 million, it was the center of the Persian Empire in the 6th century BC. The city is divided into new and old areas. The old area has monuments such as Mausoleums from Zand Dynasty, Persepolis Relics and Mosques. The new area has Christian, Persian churches and schools, as well as commercial and industrial areas. Shiraz is the hometown of the famous Persian poet Sa'di, Moshlefoddin Mosaleh. Nanjing and Shiraz established sister-city relationship in July 2018.
Since 2009, CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co., Ltd. has cooperated with the city rail organization of Shiraz Municipality, and provided services for the design, manufacturing and test of 50 vehicles for the Shiraz Metro Train Project. In addition, at present, CRRC Nanjing Puzhen Co., Ltd. is negotiating with IRICO, a local company of Iran, to plan the  cooperation in the production of 135 subways in Shiraz. In 2020, Shiraz presented a sculpture “Statue of Sa'di” to Nanjing, and in return, Nanjing presented Shiraz the sculpture “Statue of Cao Xueqin” to demonstrate the friendship between the two cities.
