Since the start of this year, Shanghai has seen a steady rise in inbound travelers thanks to foreigner-friendly policies such as 144-hour visa-free transit.
In the first nine months, a total of 12.18 million inbound tourists arrived in Shanghai, a year-on-year increase of 107 percent. To facilitate the travel of international tourists, Shanghai has set up one-stop service stations at Hongqiao International Airport and Pudong International Airport.
In addition to serving international travelers upon their arrival, Shanghai has also introduced multiple payment methods, including mobile payment and cash payment. The city now has a total of 70,000 terminals that can process transactions with foreign bank cards in areas such as dining, accommodation, transportation, tourism and shopping.
