Suzhou  2025.10.19

The 2025 Suzhou Jinji Lake Sino-French Culture and Art Week has kicked off at Ligongdi Cultural and Creative Block李公堤文创街区 recently and will last through this Sunday.

Suzhou and Paris have together yielded fruitful results in trade, science, education, and culture, among other fields. Since Ligongdi, Suzhou and Montmartre, Paris became sister districts in 2021, the two sides has hosted three editions of Suzhou Jinji Lake Sino-French Culture and Art Week, which has deepened the exchange and cooperation between China and France in culture, art, handicraft, and business.

One highlight of this year's edition is the Sino-French young designer exhibition at the Ming Gallery of Art明·美术馆. The exhibition displays over 70 works by young designers from top Chinese and French institutions, and explores such themes as urban aesthetics, lifestyle, economy, and sustainability, showcasing Suzhou Industrial Park's creative energy and the role of design in urban renewal.

An exhibition on Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, the author of "The Little Prince," is underway at SIP Public Cultural Center苏州工业园区公共文化中心 and will run till next January. Featuring 62 electronic reproductions of photos, letters, and sketches related to Saint-Exupéry, it presents him not only as an aviator and writer, but also as an artist and inventor, revealing the multifaceted charm of this literary legend.

An art installation created by French artist Frédéric Baron, who also designed the famous Wall of Love, Chinese calligrapher Fei Zhixiong, and Professor Zhang Dalu of Soochow University's School of Art has been unveiled. The artwork, named "Gazing," blends texts, graphics, and stainless steel, reflecting the shared beauty of the Seine in Paris and Jinji Lake in Suzhou.
The Sino-French food festival features Black Pearl restaurants, select local eateries, and internet-famous cafes, and has rolled out a limited-edition "Wall of Love" co-branded coffee, themed menus, and cultural merchandise, allowing visitors to immerse themselves in the culinary cultures of China and the West.
A lakeside recitation event, a Sino-French photography exhibition, a French letter mini exhibition, a drama reading session, and a literature salon will be held during the Culture and Art Week. Please stay tuned.
