Ping Tan Impression

Ping Tan Impression is a large-scale stage production directed by the world-renowned Chinese dance artist Yang Liping (楊麗萍), often referred to as China's "Peacock Princess." She has performed thousands of shows, touring over 30 countries and regions, including Singapore, Russia, the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
Yang gained international fame with her iconic solo dance Spirit of the Peacock (雀之靈), which showcases the peacock dance of China's Dai ethnic group. As one of China's most influential contemporary dance artists, Yang is widely celebrated for her unique artistic vision and deep connection to traditional Chinese folk dance.

Ping Tan Impression is Yang's first work focusing on traditional Chinese folk culture and maritime heritage. It draws inspiration mainly from the maritime traditions of the Fujian-Taiwan region, highlighting the natural and cultural essence of Pingtan Island (平潭島) in east China's Fujian province.
Rooted in traditional Chinese mythology, Ping Tan Impression tells a tale of love, courage, and protection on Pingtan Island - a land of gods - unfolding in a world of fantasy and illusion through traditional Chinese folk dance.
