27 nations, endless delights: Hangzhou embraces 2026 European Culture Street

To both European friends residing in Hangzhou and Hangzhou locals who dream of visiting Europe, some scenarios that instantly evoke the continent's charm would surely be a most delightful presence.

This will soon be a realty. The 2026 European Culture Street will make its Hangzhou debut from the afternoon of April 17 to April 18. Under the theme “One Street, Many Stories,” the event is jointly presented by the Delegation of the European Union to China and the 27 EU Member States, with a dedicated area showcasing Geographical Indications (GI) products.

Since its launch in 2017, European Culture Street has travelled to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Chengdu, and now it is finally coming to Hangzhou. Visitors can discover familiar languages and cultures at interactive booths, enjoy live performances, and revisit the flavours of Europe through food and signature products. Through food, art, music, and dialogue, the event creates a vibrant European corner in the heart of Hangzhou.

This year’s event brings together the diverse cultures of all 27 EU Member States, offering visitors a close-up experience of traditional crafts and distinctive cuisine from across Europe. A dedicated EU Geographical Indications (GI) Exhibition, themed “Taste Tradition, Protect Origins,” will showcase a range of high-quality food and drink products. The event also features nearly nine hours of live performances, a passport stamp game, interactive activities, and green experience sessions, creating a rich, authentic, and immersive journey through European culture in Hangzhou.

With the charm of Europe beautifully showcased along one street, the event beckons you to explore its every delightful detail. For instance, As the holder of the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2026, Cyprus will present the tourism, gastronomy, and culture of the “Island of Aphrodite,” making its booth one of the highlights of the event. At the Denmark booth, visitors can sample Danish butter cookies, beer, dairy products, and other popular specialties. At the Romania booth, visitors can enjoy Romanian cookies and receive small gifts.
