Changsha Sees Growth in Both Exports and Imports for Three Consecutive Months

Changsha's total import and export value expanded 2.3% year on year to 186.24 billion CNY in the first eight months of 2025, accounting for 53.1% of Hunan Province's total foreign trade value, according to the Xingsha Customs Authority. In August alone, Changsha's exports amounted to 14.64 billion CNY, up 5.6%, while imports totaled 8.84 billion CNY, rising 12.5%. The city recorded growth in both exports and imports for three consecutive months.
General trade reached 157.23 billion CNY, growing 2.4%, and accounted for 84.4% of the city's total trade. Processing trade rose 26.9% to 16.28 billion CNY, making up 8.7% of the total, while bonded logistics operations saw a total import-export value of 10.36 billion CNY, accounting for 5.6%.

The Xingsha Customs Authority has actively promoted the supervision mode for processing trade of enterprise groups, guiding participating companies to strengthen internal management to ensure compliant use of preferential measures such as free allocation of bonded materials and shared warehousing facilities. These efforts have exempted enterprises from risk guarantee funds of about 780 million CNY, supporting business development.

In the first eight months, there were 4,058 enterprises with import and export performance, 172 more than the figure recorded in the first seven months. Private enterprises, state-owned enterprises, and foreign-invested enterprises all saw growth in their foreign trade.
ASEAN remains Changsha's top trading partner, with trade increasing 16.9% to 34.36 billion CNY in the first eight months, accounting for 18.4% of the city's total. During the same period, Changsha's trade with countries involved in the Belt and Road Initiative reached 113.91 billion CNY, up 12%; trade with other RCEP member states totaled 56.71 billion CNY, up 13.9%; and trade with Africa reached 21.12 billion CNY, soaring 55.1%.
