GuangzhouOn October 25, 16 Chinese and international postgraduate students from Tsinghua University visited Liede International Neighborhood as part of the university's "Understanding China" exchange series, jointly organized by the Beijing Office of the Guangzhou Municipal People's Government and the Tsinghua University Graduate Student Union. Under the theme "Young Chinese and International Talent Navigating Career Paths Together," the visit offered first-hand insights into Guangzhou's international community, business environment, and opportunities for international talent to work and start businesses in China.

Three guests shared their experiences of building careers and businesses in China.

British national Jeremy Sargent, who has lived in China for over 30 years, is a lawyer, business consultant, and restaurateur. British national David Butler, with over 20 years in China, is Director of the Idex cultural platform and manager of a Guangzhou dragon boat team. Lavi, who spent 30 years in Spain before returning to Guangzhou six years ago, shared perspectives from his work in international dining and the operation of Liede International Neighborhood.
Drawing on their personal journeys, the speakers discussed career choices, entrepreneurship, and cross-cultural understanding, encouraging young people to stay curious, build connections, and explore opportunities in a changing world.

Students from France, Russia, Malaysia, the UK, Vietnam, the Netherlands, and Bangladesh also shared their impressions of Guangzhou.
Some Chinese students were surprised to discover a community with such a strong international atmosphere. Guangzhou's openness, cultural diversity, and vibrant opportunities gave them fresh ideas about living and working in the city.
International students were particularly curious about how foreigners can start businesses in China. Local favorites such as Cantonese roast meat rice and herbal tea also offered a taste of everyday life in Guangzhou.
The visit was more than an exploration of the city's development and business environment. It was an opportunity for young people from different backgrounds to connect with international professionals and exchange ideas.
As a bridge between Chinese and international residents, Liede International Neighborhood will continue to foster cross-cultural dialogue, helping more people discover Guangzhou, connect with new opportunities, and imagine their future in this dynamic city.
