Xiamen

Huilishan Fortress Site in Xiamen is a national key cultural relic protection unit and a 4A-level tourist attraction. It was built in 1894 (the 20th year of the Qing Dynasty). The protected area is approximately 55,400 square meters, of which the area within the fortress is 13,000 square meters. It is divided into the battle field area, the barracks area and the rear area. The structure of the fortress is semi-basement and semi-wall-type, combining European style with the architectural charm of China's Ming and Qing dynasties. The Huli Mountain Fortress was a product of China's modern Westernization Movement. Due to its important location, it was historically known as "the gateway of Fujian and the key to the south of the sea". The 28 Krupp cannons in the battle field area are renowned as the "world's largest cannon". They have been confirmed by the National Cultural Heritage Administration as "the largest, fully preserved in its original site in the 19th century, breech-loading coastal cannon in the world" and have been included in the national "Twelfth Five-Year Plan" for major heritage protection projects and the Shanghai Guinness World Records. The iron molds and iron cannons in the rear area are the "unique relic" of the modern iron mold casting method in China and are also precious treasures of the fortress.

In recent years, Hulishan Fortress has deeply explored its historical and cultural connotations, creating two core brands: the Kruerber Cannon and the Redyi Cannon Drill. It has also launched over thirty supporting projects such as the high-fidelity robot silicon statue exhibition hall, 4D cinema, illusion imaging theater, historical materials on sinking Japanese ships, Zong Wu Dynasty imperial edicts, and a single-log forest. It has organized various cultural tourism brand activities in the form of different events, such as "Welcome the First Ray of the New Year" on New Year's Day, "July 1st Party Day Activities", "Hulishan Fortress Cultural Tourism Market" on National Day, and "Hearing the Sound of the Sea" choral concert. It has developed specialized tourism products based on the attributes of the five bases and historical culture, including party building, study tours, team building, and venue customization services. It has launched "Wang Hai Xiaoyuan" team-building activities and special tea drinks and customized food and other leisure service products, cultivating a personalized new label of "relaxing and leisure lifestyle" for the fortress. It has developed a series of characteristic tourism cultural and creative products with the elements of the fortress culture.

Huilishan Fortress has a unique geographical location. Its east faces the Kinmen Island across the sea, its south borders Zhangzhou, its west is in harmony with Gulangyu Island, and its north is the bustling urban area. It is only a twenty-minute drive from Gaoqi Airport, a ten-minute walk from the ferry terminal, and a fifteen-minute ride from the railway station. The transportation is very convenient. As a shining symbol and important window of Xiamen's tourism, it has become a comprehensive cultural tourism and leisure scenic area on the Xiamen island road, with profound historical and cultural value, unique coastal geographical location, beautiful natural ecological landscape and rich tourism activities. It is a place with profound cultural heritage, rich aesthetic value and the most beautiful and ideal sea-viewing spots.
