The Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Chengdu Municipality has recently revised the digital version of the bilingual city guide, Home in Chengdu Living Guide (hereinafter referred to as the Guide). By introducing the latest policies and updated useful information, the revised edition promises to provide more attentive services for foreign nationals and attract them to come to, integrate into, and stay in Chengdu. It aims to expedite the city’s development as a hub for international exchange and a modern international metropolis in China.
The 2025 new edition of the Guide is now available online on the “Home in Chengdu” section of the Foreign Affairs Office’s official website, the “HomeinChengdu” WeChat Official Account, the “Chengdu Discovery” WeChat Official Account, and the “HELLO Chengdu” WeChat Official Account. The accompanying brochure introduced along with the Guide has been updated accordingly.
Key updates across four blocks of the Guide are as follows:

“Hello, Chengdu” Block
1. Updates include visa-free policies, the country list, and other relevant information.
2. The list of international direct flight cities from Chengdu (partial) has been updated.
3. Transportation guidance has been revised, covering Chengdu’s airports, metro lines, how to use overseas bank cards for public transport, and other information.

“Easy Travel in Chengdu” Block
1. The block now introduces the consuls general’s list of recommended restaurants in 2025. Details of Chengdu Michelin Guide List have been updated.
2. Information on downtown duty-free stores in Chengdu, the departure tax refund policy, and the “Immediate Tax Refund upon Purchase” service is now accessible via QR codes.
3. More tourist attractions, museums, art galleries, and performance venues are included to provide a thorough guide for easy travel in Chengdu.

“Flourishing Business in Chengdu” Block
1. New sections have been added to address questions related to investment and entrepreneurship in Chengdu, including 2025 Action Plan for Stabilizing Foreign Investment , 2025 Chengdu Investment Guide , Chengdu 2025 Key Projects Plan , and Chengdu’s Measures to Further Optimize the Foreign Investment Environment and Enhance the Attraction of Foreign Investment.
2. Comprehensive updates have been made to introductions to the K visa application for foreign young science and technology professionals, laws and regulations for working in China, frequently used recruitment websites, and other information.

“Comfortable Life in Chengdu” Block
1. Guides for “exchanging a foreign driver’s license for a Chinese one”, “applying for a Chinese residence permit as an international student”, “transporting pets by high-speed railway”, and other needs are now accessible via QR codes.
2. Download QR codes and feature overviews for the English version of Amap, Baidu Map, and other commonly used navigation apps have been included.
Since its official release in February 2023, Home in Chengdu Living Guide has provided a wide range of authoritative, convenient, and considerate solutions for both short- and long-term foreign residents in Chengdu across various domains, including residency, entrepreneurship, education, business, travel, and entertainment. It has significantly assisted foreign nationals in their careers, lives, and education in Chengdu.
