Longhua branch of 2nd people’s hospital opens

The much-anticipated Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital Longhua Hospital officially opens today. Located in the bustling core of the Luhu Science and Technology Cultural Area in Longhua District, this new facility is poised to serve approximately 4 million residents in northern Shenzhen.The expansive facility covers an area of 56,200 square meters and a construction area of 355,900 square meters. The hospital’s main building includes 21 floors above ground and five floors underground, housing approximately 212,400 square meters of dedicated medical and auxiliary spaces. The hospital was designed with a planned capacity for 1,500 beds and 2,596 parking spaces.

“In addition to integrating medical resources, we will also implement a unified approach to administrative management at the Longhua hospital,” said Ren Lijie, vice president of Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital.Ren highlighted that the Longhua hospital, which specializes in neurological disorders, will also collaborate with Beijing Tiantan Hospital, Capital Medical University — a leading comprehensive hospital in China renowned for its expertise in clinical neuroscience. “We also leverage the advancement of digitalization within the hospital. Robots are used for the timely delivery of medications. Moreover, the hospital is beautifully designed to provide a pleasant environment for patients,” Ren said.The hospital has initiated the first phase of its services by opening 23 consultation rooms across 24 specialized fields. Services include departments such as ultrasound, radiology, clinical laboratory, electrocardiogram, and both Chinese and Western pharmacies.Additionally, experts from various disciplines at Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital will rotate their visits between the two hospitals.

According to the hospital, it will host a free clinic event from today to Jan. 5, 2025. During this period, citizens can visit expert clinics without incurring any registration fees. However, examinations, testing items, and medications will only be available at the patient’s expense, as the hospital’s system debugging period temporarily limits the use of medical insurance.As the hospital continues its phased opening, more specialized departments are expected to be established, and additional services such as inpatient wards and emergency departments will be progressively introduced.The Shenzhen Second People’s Hospital, established in 1980, shares the same anniversary as the Shenzhen Special Economic Zone, as both were founded in the same year.
