Information of Registration Offices in Suzhou for Marriages between Permanent Chinese Residents and Foreigners,
Overseas Chinese and Residents of Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan
Qualifications for application
Meeting the requirements listed in the “Civil Code of People’s Republic of China” “Regulation on Marriage Registration” and “Work Norm for Marriage Registration”
The list of application materials:
1. Chinese inland resident:
The applicant’s household registration booklet and valid ID card
2. Hong Kong residents:
(1) The applicant’s valid mainland exit-entry permit or home return certificate
(2) The applicant’s valid Hong Kong ID card
(3) The applicant’s statement of single status and proof that s/he is neither the lineal relative by blood nor the collateral relative by blood up to three generations of the other party notarized by appointed notary agencies in Hong Kong
The applicant’s statement or certificate of single status has the maximum valid period of 6 months since it is issued. (similarly hereinafter)
3. Macao residents
(1) The applicant’s valid mainland exit-entry permit or home return certificate
(2) The applicant’s valid Hong Kong ID card
(3) The applicant’s statement of single status and proof that s/he is neither the lineal relative by blood nor the collateral relative by blood up to three generations of the other party notarized by notary agencies in Macao
4. Taiwan residents
(1) The applicant’s mainland entry-exit permit for Taiwan residents or other valid travel documents
(2) The applicant’s valid identity documents of residence in Taiwan
(3) The applicant’s statement of single status and proof that s/he is neither the lineal relative by blood nor the collateral relative by blood up to three generations of the other party notarized by notary agencies in Taiwan
5. Overseas Chinese
(1) The applicant’s valid passport or other valid international travel documents
(2) The applicant’s certificate of single status and proof that s/he is not directly or indirectly related to the other party within the past three generations provided by the notary public office or competent authority based in his/her residence country and certified by the embassy (consulate) of the People’s Republic of China in the country, or certificate of his/her single status and proof that s/he is not directly or indirectly related to the other party within the past three generations issued by the embassy (consulate) of the People’s Republic of China in that country.
If the certificates are issued by a country with no diplomatic relation with China, attestation should be conducted by the embassy (consulate) of a third country there which has established diplomatic relations with both China and that country and by the Chinese embassy (consulate) in the third country, or by the embassy (consulate) of the third country in China.
6. Foreigners
(1) The applicant’s valid passport or other valid international travel documents
(2) The applicant’s certificate of single status and proof that s/he is not directly or indirectly related to the other party within the past three generations provided by the notary public office or competent authority based in his/her country and certified by the embassy (consulate) of the People’s Republic of China in the country, or certificate of his/her single status and proof that s/he is not directly or indirectly related to the other party within the past three generations issued by the embassy (consulate) of the People’s Republic of China in his/her country
