On June 29th, the first batch of foreign students from Shiyan Tea Art Association held the "Tea Artist" vocational skills level certification examination at Wudang Tea City. 14 Pakistani students participated in the theoretical examination and skill operation assessment for Tea Artist (Level 5, Junior). This was the first time that foreign individuals from our city participated in the vocational skills level certification in the tea industry.
These 14 Pakistani students were all first and second-year students of Hubei Medical College. They were passionate about Chinese tea culture and aspired to become international disseminators of tea culture. With the strong support of Hubei Medical College, they were given the opportunity to participate in this examination.
The assessment was divided into two parts: theoretical examination and practical operation assessment. The theoretical knowledge mainly examined knowledge of the six major tea categories such as green tea and oolong tea, as well as knowledge of Chinese tea etiquette, tea history, and tea utensils; the practical content required candidates to master the green tea glass cup tea art according to the new national standards. During the examination, the students demonstrated proficiently their understanding of the brewing techniques of the six major tea categories and their in-depth knowledge of tea etiquette, tea history, and tea utensils. Through strict assessment of theoretical written tests and practical demonstrations, their attitude of studying Chinese tea culture was unanimously recognized by the assessment team experts. This assessment not only reflects the enhancement of the international appeal of Chinese traditional culture, but also marks a solid step forward in the international inheritance of Shiyang intangible cultural heritage tea culture.
"I really like Chinese tea culture. My favorite is green tea, which has many benefits for my health and makes me healthier," said Ming Hua, one of the students who completed the assessment. It is reported that the assessment results of the 14 students who participated in this assessment were all qualified.
"Tea fragrance has no borders. We are promoting the standard of tea artists to be in line with international standards, making tea culture a shared 'Chinese card' for the world." Shiyan Tea Art Association President Li Xiaomei said. The association plans to open an "International Tea Artist Training Class" to further improve the bilingual tea artist training system, offer advanced courses to more foreign students, and help promote the global dissemination of tea culture, making tea fragrance a "taste envoy" connecting the past and the present, and connecting China and the West.
