Seminar on banking to be held for expats

Oct 10, 2025

Shenzhen  2025.10.14

Are you an expat in Shenzhen struggling with banking, whether opening an account, handling foreign exchange, or managing everyday finances? If so, consider attending the Banking Services for Foreigners in Shenzhen seminar Oct. 14, which is designed to help expats overcome common banking challenges.

Organized by the Shekou Management and Service Center for Expats (Shekou MSCE), the session will be led by English-speaking banking professionals from the Bank of China (BOC) and the Bank of East Asia (BEA).

Liu Yangpeiying, an integrated service manager at BOC with extensive experience in personal banking, and Zhuang Qilin, from BEA, will provide step-by-step guidance on requirements for opening an account, cross-border remittances, foreign currency services, digital banking options, and managing personal finances in China.

Designed for both international newcomers and long-term expats, the event will focus on real-world solutions to everyday banking issues, said Nicole Tao, deputy director of the Shekou MSCE.

The event will take place at the Shekou Foreign Legal Assistance Center, where seating is limited. Interested participants are encouraged to register early. For more information and to secure a seat, scan the QR code on the event poster.

The seminar is part of the ongoing Shekou Expats’ Night School non-profit program that launched its new semester in early September with Chinese and Cantonese language classes. Running for several months, the school features a wide array of courses that highlight tradition Chinese culture, such as cuisine workshops and introductions to traditional instruments.

For those who cannot attend evening sessions, the program also offers morning classes, including a Chinese pastry workshop and an introductory session on traditional Chinese medicine.
