Writing a New Chapter
Recently, the second batch of medical students from National University of Ireland Galway successfully completed their one-month exchange program at Hebei Children's Hospital and have now returned to their home country. On June 25th, Hebei Children's Hospital held a grand graduation ceremony for these 10 medical students from NUI Galway. The ceremony was attended by Vice President Cui Xiaowei of Hebei Children's Hospital, along with representatives from the International Office, heads of various teaching departments, and faculty mentors.

Cui Xiaowei stated in her speech that over the past month, the participants had gained substantial academic knowledge. Through diverse clinical observations including surgical demonstrations, outpatient consultations, emergency case management, and ward rounds, they closely observed and learned physician-patient communication techniques, primary diagnostic methods, rapid response to emergent situations, treatment plan formulation and adjustment based on patient condition changes. Simultaneously, the program facilitated deeper cross-cultural exchange and understanding. A series of cultural activities - from savoring Chinese cuisine and learning traditional cooking to visiting historical sites - allowed the students to experience the unique charm of Chinese culture.

Vice President Cui Xiaowei expressed her earnest hopes for the students, urging them to continuously enhance their skills through persistent learning and practice to achieve their ambitious goals. She encouraged them to relentlessly pursue excellence on their medical journey, scale new academic heights, and strive to become globally competitive medical practitioners who would contribute to the advancement of pediatric care. During the ceremony, the attending leaders and supervising faculty presented the 10 students with completion certificates and commemorative gifts, marking the successful conclusion of their exchange program.

It is reported that ten clinical departments from both internal medicine and surgery participated in this teaching program. The hospital designed a comprehensive curriculum spanning three key dimensions: clinical rotations, skill-building workshops, and cultural immersion activities, ensuring students maximized their learning outcomes within the limited time frame. Additionally, hands-on training sessions in endotracheal intubation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) were meticulously arranged, equipping every participant with essential emergency skills to build a solid foundation for their future clinical practice.

During the project, the hospital carefully planned and held the "Wrap in Warmth, Share the World" dumpling experience camp activity. By guiding students to personally participate in the production of traditional Chinese cuisine - dumplings, we aim to further deepen their understanding and identification with Chinese traditional culture. Part of the teachers and staff representatives guided foreign students to successfully complete the dumpling making activity and tasted the handmade dumplings together. In addition, students were also organized to visit the Zhengding Longxing Temple. From the architectural style of the temple to the carving of Buddha statues inside, every detail amazed the students. Through this visit, students not only broadened their horizons, but also gained a more intuitive and in-depth understanding of the rich connotations of traditional Chinese culture.
Hebei Children's Hospital has always been committed to delivering high-quality medical services while placing strong emphasis on international exchange and collaboration, actively promoting the dissemination of medical knowledge and talent development. This exchange program has significantly deepened bilateral cooperation in clinical practice, medical education, and training. With increased student participation and broader departmental involvement compared to previous editions, the program not only demonstrates the success of the partnership but also opens new opportunities for comprehensive future collaborations. Hebei Children's Hospital will dispatch more medical experts to National University of Ireland Galway for academic exchanges, facilitating in-depth discussions on cutting-edge medical technologies and innovative clinical concepts. At the same time, experts and scholars from the National University of Ireland, Galway, will also be invited to give academic lectures and clinical guidance at the hospital, further enhancing the hospital's medical level and service quality.
