WeChat Pay Launches New Payment App for Foreigners in China

WeChat Pay has launched TenPayGo, a new app designed to make payments and everyday life more convenient for foreign visitors in China.
Developed by the WeChat Pay team, TenPayGo builds on WeChat Pay’s services that allow overseas bank cards to be linked to Chinese payment services, as well as its “use overseas payment methods in China” capabilities.

Users can register and log in with an email address, then link supported international bank cards, overseas digital wallets, Apple Pay and other mainstream overseas payment methods available through WeChat Pay’s partners.

But TenPayGo is designed to go beyond payments, extending its services to everyday situations in China.

Easier Travel

In partnership with Shenzhen Tong, TenPayGo offers a “one-code” public transportation experience in Shenzhen that does not require a Chinese mainland mobile phone number.

Easier Communication

The app also provides instant translation through a “circle to translate” feature. Users can circle text on menus, road signs and other content to translate it, making tasks such as ordering food or taking a taxi easier.

Easier Tax Refunds

TenPayGo also works with institutions including the Shenzhen Branch of Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) to provide direct access to tax-refund services within the app.

Overall, TenPayGo combines payment, transportation, translation and tax-refund services in one platform, offering another option for foreign visitors navigating daily life in China.
