Hainan Airlines will soon resume the direct flights between Chengdu and Vienna, the capital city of Austria.
The aviation company plans to open the flight, starting on December 1, 2024, which is eyed to offer more options for passengers between China and Europe and to further promote the cooperation between China and Austria under the Belt and Road Initiative and help consolidate the friendly strategic partnership between the two countries.
Hainan Airlines will launch three two-way direct flights a week between Chengdu (Tianfu International Airport) and Vienna, conducted on every Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. The flight from Vienna takes off at Vienna International Airport at 12:30 (local time) and lands at Tianfu International Airport the next day at 5:10 (Beijing time), with the estimated time for travel of 9 hours and 40 minutes. The returning flight from Tianfu International Airport takes off at 02:45 (Beijing time) and lands in Vienna at 06:05 (local time), with the estimated time for travel of 10 hours and 20 minutes.
At present, there are three direct-flight lines between China and Austria, namely Beijing-Vienna flight by Air China, Shenzhen-Vienna flight by Hainan Airlines and Shanghai-Vienna flight by Austrian Airlines.

Chengdu Tianfu International Airport has conducted the winter season schedule starting on October 27.
The airport has so far 62 international flight lines covering North America, Europe, Oceania, Africa and Asia, including 50 passenger flight lines and 12 cargo flight lines. Upon the shift to winter season schedule, the airport has adjusted flights by ways of opening, resumption and intensifying on 10 international lines and lines to the Hong Kong and Macau SARs, and the Taiwan region. Sichuan Airlines plans to increase the Chengdu-Moscow flights to one flight every day, Air China plans to launch two flights on the Chengdu-Bangkok line and intensify flights from Chengdu to Colombo, Sri Lanka and to Phuket Island, Thailand to one flight every day, and flights to Manila, the Philippines to four flights a week. Sichuan Airlines plans to increase flights from Chengdu to Phuket Island, starting in mid-November, to two flights every day, and flights from Chengdu to Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, starting in December, to one flight every day.
