Application of Foreign Nationals for Stay Permit and Its Renewal

Hubei Wuhan  

Eligible Applicants
(I) Foreign nationals who enter China visa-free and need to overstay the visa-free period in Wuhan for non-diplomatic/official purposes.
(II) Foreign crew members of ships and their accompanying familly members who need to leave the cities where the ports are located during their stay in china.
(III) Those who need to stay in Wuhan after renunciation of Chinese nationality upon approval
(IV) Foreign nationals who need to continue their stay in Wuhan for objective reasons after their residence purpose is no longer applicable.
(V) Foreign infants born in China who need to stay in wuhan.
(VI) Other circumstances where the aoplication for a foreigner' s stay permit is deemed necessary by the exit and entry administration authority.


Application Materials
(I) Valid passport or other international travel documents, including copies of the personal information page, the valid visa page, and the visa page with the latest entry stamp
(II) Registration Form of Residence for Visitors From Overseas.
(III) Visa/Stay Permit/Residence Permit Application From completed in black ink with a recent 2-inch bareheaded, full-face photo on a white background.
(IV) Materials related to the purposes of the stay:
1. Foreign natlonals who enter China visa-free and need to overstay the visa-free period in Wuhan for non-diplomatic/official purposes are required to submit application materials related to the purpose of stay. For details, refer to the materials required for relevant purposes of stay for visa extension.
2. Foreign crew members of ships and their accompanying family members who need to leave the cities where the ports are located during their stay in China are requlred to submit the seafarer' s book or other travel documents and a letter of guarantee from the shipping agency, as well as flight (or ship, train) tickets with confirmed date of departure and seat or other supporting documents related to the purpose of stay.
3. Those who have renounced Chinese nationality upon approval are required to submit the Certificate of Renunclation of Chinese Nationality and materials explaining the reason for the stay.
4. Foreign nationals who need to continue their stay due to objective reasons after the purposes of their residence are no longer applicable are required to submit avalid residence permit and relevant supporting documents: (1) Those who hold a residence permit for study are required to submit a graduation certificate, an official letter from their school, or other supporting documents for the end of studies; (2) Those who hold an employment-based residence permit are required to submit a letter from their previous employer or the proof ofthe cancellation of their "Foreigner' s Work Permit in China" Issued by the foreign experts affairs authoritles. (3)Those who hold a residence permit for family reunion are regulred to submit a divorce certificate, death certificate or other supportinq documents for the end of the family reunion. (4) Those who hold a residence permit for private affairs are required to submit supporting documents for the end of their private affairs
5. In the case of foreign infants born in China, the followings are required to submit: (1) birth certificate; (2)passports or other international travel documents and residence permits of their parents.
6. In other circumstances, application materials shall be submitted as required by the exit and entry administration authority.
Note: All application materials shall be submitted in their original version for verification along with A4 copies.


Duration of Residence Permit
(I) Forelgn crew members of ships and their accompanying family members may apply for a stay permit with a stay duration of no more than 30 days.
(II) Those who have renounced Chinese nationality may apply for a stay permit with a stay duration of no more than 180 days.
(III) Foreign nationals whose purpose of residence is no longer applicable may apply for a stay permit with a stay duration of no more than 30 days.
(IV) Foreign infants born in China who need to stay in Wuhan may apply for a stay permit that corresponds to the duration of their parents' stay.
(V) In other circumstances, applicants may apply for stay permit based on the purpose of stay by reference to application for visa extension/renewal, with a duration of no more than 180 days.


Important Notes
(I) Applicants are required to be interviewed, Those who are under the age of 16, over the age of 60, or suffer mobillity issues due to ilness or other reasons, or have a good record of previous stay / residence in China may have others file an application on their behalf. However, if the exit and entry administration authority requires an interview, the applicant must attend it in person.
(II) Supporting documents provided by foreign nationals in languages other than Chinese for applying for visa/stay permit/residence permit must be accompanied by a Chinese translation from a qualified translation company in China.
(III) First-time applicants in China under the age of 18 who are foreign nationals of Chinese origin or overseas Chinese are also required to submit their birth certificate parents' passports, and proof of residence abroad.
(IV) Individuals who have not canceled their Chinese household registration must do so before filing an application.


This notification shall be interpreted by the Exitand Entry Administration Department of Wuhan Public Security Bureau.
