Introduction:
The body of the Ding porcelain Plum Vase is adorned with meticulously carved branches of peonies, where each incision exudes natural elegance. The shoulders and base are complemented by lotus motifs, adding to its graceful and opulent appearance. Ding porcelain boasts a dense and delicate body, with a translucent glaze that rivals the smoothness of jade. Primarily crafted in white, it also features hues of red, black, and purple. White Ding porcelain is esteemed, with colored variations regarded as exceptionally rare. In the Records of Things Heard and Seen by Shao Bowen of the Song Dynasty, there is a delightful anecdote of Emperor Renzong scolding Empress Zhang for accepting a gift of Dingzhou red porcelain from his minister, Wang Gongchen.
