Dujiangyan Introduces Another Must-Visit Nighttime Attraction

Jun 24, 2026

Chengdu

Dujiangyan Nocturne, an immersive night tour program in Dujiangyan, has been launched recently. Taking advantage of Dujiangyan’s unique landscape and profound historical heritage, the program unfolds in three chapters—“The Weir of Ingenuity”, “The Weir of Mountains and Rivers”, and “The Weir of Everyday Life”.

Chapter One

The Weir of Ingenuity

Centered on Fulong Temple Scenic Spot, the chapter brings to life Li Bing’s water regulation achievements of cutting through Lidui Mountain and excavating Baopingkou Diversion Passage through real-scene performances, water curtain projection, grand musical scores, and other elements. The light-and-shadow presentation of three kinds of traditional water regulation implements—bamboo cages, wooden tripods, and iron staffs—gives the audience a direct view of the ancient water regulation wisdom of respecting the law of water and following nature’s course. This immersive experience allows the public to gain a deeper understanding of the engineering wisdom that has endured for millennia.

Chapter Two

The Weir of Mountains and Rivers

Centered on the Nanmu Forest, the chapter uses lighting effects to recreate vivid scenes of giant pandas, golden snub-nosed monkeys, birds, and other rare animals moving gracefully through the woods. The forest mist, drifting through the shafts of light brought by the Tyndall effect, shifts and swirls, creating a poetic landscape reminiscent of a traditional Chinese Shanshui (“mountain and water”) painting. The incorporation of Minjiang River, Du Fu’s poems, and other cultural elements adds to the chapter’s interpretation of Dujiangyan’s ecological wisdom of harmonious coexistence between humanity and nature.

Shifting from the engineering-focused first chapter to an ethereal atmosphere, this chapter has become a favorite among many visitors.

Chapter Three

The Weir of Everyday Life

Centered on Shengui Pond and Qingxi Garden, the chapter innovates the presentation of Qingcheng martial arts, folk customs, and other elements, vividly highlighting Dujiangyan’s cultural identity as a city that thrives because of water and flourishes through culture. Xiaolingxi, an interactive AI mythical beast launched on June 19, interacts with visitors in real time and allows them to learn historical stories, receive travel recommendations, and participate in fun activities. It transforms the presentation of traditional culture from one-way display to mutual interaction, enabling this World Heritage site to become integrated into everyday life and accessible to the public.
