In order to protect traditional craftsmanship, restore history, and promote the development of Chinese soy sauce culture, Xiamen Gulong Food Co., Ltd. established the Gulong Sauce Culture Park. It represents the persistence of several generations of Gulong people in preserving the ancient soy sauce-making technique that has been passed down for thousands of years. It is a cultural museum that preserves the history of soy sauce-making in the Minnan region. It is a new driving force for the development of the soy sauce industry and a window for showcasing soy sauce culture to the world.
Gulong's ancient method of soy sauce production has inherited the traditional "sun-drying and night-humidification" and microbial fermentation brewing techniques of the "sauce factory" that have been passed down since the Tang Dynasty. It uses the traditional method of manual koji-making to carefully cultivate koji for use in production. Gulong's soy sauce production skills have been included in the "Fujian Province Intangible Cultural Heritage".
The traditional sauce drying yard of Gulong covers an area of 44,000 square meters. There are 55,559 traditional sauce jars (now exceeding 60,000), and it has been awarded the title of "The World's Largest Guinness Record". Besides "sauce", the cultural park also has the cultures of "stone" and "wine", all of which embody the essence of time, making the trip more enriching. The Chinese Rare Stone Museum in the cultural park houses the collections of enthusiasts from the Xiamen Rare Stone Association. The wine cellar, wine tasting cabin, and wine tasting platform in the cultural park present a French-style, professional wine experience space for tourists. The Gulong Sauce Cultural Park has achieved complementary advantages, brand enhancement, cultural inheritance, and scientific popularization. The Gulong Sauce Cultural Park began its trial operation in 2013 and attracts over 300,000 visitors each year. It has successively received honors such as a National 3A-level Tourist Attraction, a Fujian Tourist Factory, and a Fujian Science and Education Base.
