Suzhou adds new countryside parks, scenic trails

The Suzhou Gardening and Greening Bureau has announced 10 newly designated countryside parks and five selected scenic trails. Come and explore these new destinations.

Countryside Parks
Yigan River East Bank Park

Developed along the ecological corridor of the Yigan River, the park features four themed landscape zones and is home to cultural and historical sites such as the Jinfeng Blockhouse Cluster and the Memorial Hall of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression.

Nanhu Lake Park

Centered on the vast natural lake and native wetlands of Nanhudang in Changshu, the park offers attractions including a plum blossom garden, a cherry blossom garden, a crabapple garden, a pink muhly grass area, a boat pier, the Changshu Wetland Science Popularization Hall, and a waterside forest.

Xiluyuan Park

With abundant wetland resources and a rich variety of vegetation arranged in layers, the park forms an ecologically diverse landscape that meets citizens' varied needs for leisure, recreation, and science education.

Kunshan Urban Ecological Forest Park

Highlights include a science experience zone, a herb garden, a crabapple garden, and a rose garden.

Yuandang Lake Park

The park includes a cherry blossom hillside, a lake-view station, a lake-view platform, and wetland boardwalks.

Xishan Small Loop Park

The park boasts a 7.5-kilometer scenic trail, covering sights such as Luohan Temple and the intertwined wisteria and camphor trees. From the ridge, visitors can gaze out toward Linwu Cave and Piaomiao Peak.

Black-headed Gull Park

Nestled along the waters of Taihu Lake, the park welcomes tens of thousands of black-headed gulls that migrate here from Siberia each winter. Other highlights include the New Fourth Army Memorial Hall and the Yujian Lighthouse.

Tiger Hill Wetland Park

Spanning Xiangcheng and Gusu districts, the park features multiple special sights.

Xianying Lake Park

Known for its cherry blossom scenery and small lakeside wetlands, the park features distinctive attractions such as a water forest and a one-kilometer cherry blossom path.

Zhenshan Park

The park regularly hosts fitness, cultural, and science activities, making it a countryside park that combines ecological wellness with sports and recreation.


Suzhou Scenic Trails
Guangfu Seven Peaks Trail

Starting and ending at the Xiangxuehai Scenic Area near Situ Temple, the trail links seven peaks: Dengwei, Xuanmu, Midui, Changshan, Tanshan, Xiqi, and Tongjing.

Xishan Small Loop

Starting and ending at Luohan Temple, the route includes some gravel surfaces and steep sections, offering a moderate hiking challenge.

Tianchi Huashan Trail

Running from Tianchi Mountain Scenic Area to Huashan Scenic Area, the route passes natural and cultural attractions including Peach Blossom Stream, Heart-Washing Pond, Jijian Temple, Lotus Pavilion, and Lotus Peak.

Qionglong Mountain Trail

Built around Qionglong Mountain and winding through Dongwu National Forest Park, the route passes through scenic spots including Tiezhu Pavilion, Dongtian, Shangzhen Temple, and Sunwu Site.

Qizi Mountain Trail

Stretching from Huamei Spring in the west to the Yuexi Sub-district Forest Fire Brigade in the east, the trail links scenic spots including Huamei Spring, Qianyuan Temple, and Chenghuang Hill.
