36th Shanghai Tourism Festival to celebrate family fun, culture

The 36th Shanghai Tourism Festival kicks off on July 5, debuting an innovative "one festival, two seasons" model. Running to Aug 31, the summer tourism season will cater specifically to families and students, with each week featuring a different theme. 
Following this, the classic activities season will run from Sept 1 to Oct 6, featuring traditional events such as the grand float parade.

Emphasizing family travel, the summer tourism season offers a diverse array of educational experiences and family activities. 
The much-anticipated opening of Legoland Shanghai Resort kicks off the season on July 5. Centered around the Lego brand, the city will host a World Play Day-themed creative competition and a festival for Chinese Lego players, and unveil over 20 Lego-themed travel routes and cross-district tours.

Moreover, Songjiang district will launch rankings such as the top 10 family-friendly check-in spots, top 10 family-themed routes, and top 10 family resorts, which will include attractions like the Playa Maya Water Park and Chenshan Botanical Garden. Disney Resort will join in the festivities with its Duffy Month event, promising many joyful experiences.

Cultural exhibitions also shine during this period. The Shanghai Museum is showcasing Legends of Dragon, the Ancient Civilization of Hongshan Culture until Oct 8, highlighting a century of Hongshan archaeological achievements and new discoveries.

At the China Art Museum, Amazing Zhulong employs glasses-free 3D and holographic laser technology to bring the mythical Eastern creature Zhulong to life. Meanwhile, the exhibition On Top of the Pyramid: The Civilization of Ancient Egypt at Shanghai Museum will open 24/7 during its final week.

Adding to the vibrancy, the fusion of Chinese trends with Shanghai-style intangible cultural heritage is set to energize the summer tourism market. 

The China International Cartoon & Game Expo teams up with the Suzhou Creek Half Marathon cultural tourism festival to spark interest in anime culture. 
Zhujiajiao Ancient Town will highlight water town intangible cultural heritage projects like boat boxing and fast boat rowing during its ancient town tourism week.
