Ethnic Impressions – Cello and Piano Concert by Yibai Chen & Boyang Shi @ Shanghai Concert Hall

Experience an evening of profound musical storytelling as cellist Yibai Chen and pianist Boyang Shi join forces for Ethnic Impressions, a program exploring folk-infused masterworks from Central Europe.
The recital opens with Kodály's lyrical Sonatina, followed by Bartók's spirited First Rhapsody, and Dvořák's G Major Sonatina in a rich cello transcription.
After intermission, Grieg's dramatic A minor Sonata brings the program to a powerful close.
Chen, a BBC New Generation Artist and Queen Elisabeth Competition laureate, has been hailed for playing that "takes us to another world," while Shi, a Shanghai Conservatory associate professor, is celebrated for her "exquisitely refined palette of sound."
Together, this internationally acclaimed duo delivers performances of breathtaking intensity and sensitivity.
