Qingdao Cardiovascular Hospital is sponsored by Shandong Port Group Co., Ltd. Its predecessor was Qingdao Port Hospital. On May 12, 2006, Qingdao Port Group of Shandong Port and Fuwai Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences established Qingdao Fuwai Cardiovascular Hospital through a collaborative partnership. In December 2023, it was renamed Qingdao Cardiovascular Hospital. It is a tertiary Grade A specialized public hospital integrating medical care, scientific research, teaching, health maintenance, prevention, and rehabilitation.

Located in the core area of Qingdao's Central Business District, the hospital covers an area of approximately 30,000 square meters, with a total floor area of about 100,000 square meters. It has 2 outpatient and inpatient buildings, with 900 beds. A third-phase rehabilitation building is currently under construction, which will bring the total number of beds to 1,200 upon completion. The hospital has 900 employees. It handles over 500,000 outpatient and emergency visits annually and performs 15,000 surgical procedures per year, including 6,300 cardiac surgeries, of which over 1,000 are open-heart surgeries. The complexity of cardiac surgeries, surgical quality indicators, and total surgical volume rank among the top in Shandong Province.

The hospital's vision is to build a "National Regional Cardiovascular Diagnosis and Treatment Center and a First-Class Tertiary Grade A Hospital in Shandong Province," guided by the development strategy of "Highlighting Specialties with Coordinated Development." Its flagship specialty, the Heart Center, adopts an integrated management model combining internal medicine and surgery. The Heart Center has its own CCU ward, ICU ward, catheterization laboratory, anesthesia operating room, cardiovascular surgery ward, structural heart disease and cardiac rehabilitation ward, and three cardiology wards. It was among the first in Qingdao to offer cardiac rehabilitation services. The Department of Cardiology and the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery are designated as Key Disciplines of Qingdao. The "Six Major Centers" – Chest Pain Center, Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, Atrial Fibrillation Center, Hypertension Compliance Center, Heart Failure Center, and Heart Valve Disease Interventional Center – have all received national-level certification and accreditation, significantly enhancing the hospital's capacity for critical cardiovascular care and further strengthening its role in regional comprehensive prevention and treatment.

The hospital's Rehabilitation Center comprises the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine, Department of Rehabilitation Therapy, and Department of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Orthopedics, with 5 wards and 2 rehabilitation therapy areas, leading the industry in scale and social impact. The Department of General Internal Medicine, Department of General Surgery, Department of Urology, Department of Orthopedics, Department of Neurology, Department of Emergency Medicine, Department of Gastroenterology, and Department of Geriatrics are key clinical departments with significant advantages and a strong reputation in the Qingdao area. Key outpatient departments such as the Health Examination Center, Department of Stomatology, Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine Physiotherapy, Department of Gynecology, and Department of Ophthalmology and Otolaryngology each have distinctive features and are experiencing rapid development. The Endoscopy Center, Pathology Center, Vertigo Center, and Hemodialysis Center have further strengthened and refined the hospital's disciplinary framework. The hospital has been designated as a Stroke Prevention and Treatment Center by Shandong Province, and its Department of Oncology has been certified as a Qingdao Municipal Standardized Cancer Diagnosis and Treatment Ward. The hospital has established the International Medical Department, the Dr. Saito Eiichi Expert Technical Guidance Station, the International Rehabilitation Center, and the International Premium Health Examination Center, creating an international high-end medical service platform.
